Dismissing this wild story as superstitious nonsense, Katie decides to play along rather than return to her abusive family of Irish immigrants. Only then does she discover that in order to fulfill the Holyman\u2019s Vision, she must first become something they call his \u201cSpirit Keeper&#8221;&#8211;a step which sends her on an epic journey across a continent unknown to the Western world.<\/p>\n<p><em>The Spirit Keeper<\/em>\u00a0is a great adventure story, an irresistible romance, and a poignant account of the universal struggle for understanding.<\/p>\n<p>Although <em>The Spirit Keeper<\/em> is not technically a true story, everything in it is historically accurate, and it is, in fact, an absolutely true recounting of the author\u2019s own life. \u00a0When she was 17, K.B. Laugheed was captivated by Indigenous history, culture, and literature, and she has been happily living in that wonderful world ever since.<\/p>\n<div class=\"about_book about_additional\">\n<p class=\"font_script\">A Sequel to The Spirit Keeper?<\/p>\n<p><em>The Spirit Keeper <\/em>was originally written as a massive saga more than twice the length of the book currently on the shelf.<\/p>\n<p>For various reasons, it was decided to split that hefty tome in two, the first half of which is <em>The Spirit Keeper <\/em>in its current form.
